On September 22nd, Bosch and NIO-backed HYCAN auto brand unveiled their co-developed automated valet parking project, which will be loaded on HYCAN’s Z03, marking the automaker’s first attempt at adopting this technology on its mass-produced model.
Bosch’s automated valet parking technology allows drivers to activate automatic parking functions via smartphones and establish digital contact from the car to the intelligent parking garage. Then the unmanned vehicle will route to the designated parking spot while avoiding obstructions.
The collaborated automated valet parking project is classified as SAE-L4 autonomous driving technology. The partners intend to further their strategic cooperation in the future.
HYCAN is a new energy vehicle company invested by GAC Group, NIO, and Pearl River Investments, focusing on future transportation ecology. Its business ranges from new energy vehicles’ definition, development, marketing, and services, aiming to merge traditional automaking experience with the new network automaking philosophy.
As Bosch forecasts, there will be millions of vehicles and nearly 1,000 parking structures capable of carrying out automated valet parking in 2025, globally.
Currently, Bosch has been working on implementing its automatic parking solutions with several automakers in the world. In July 2019, Bosch and Mercedes-Benz were granted permission to deploy the said technology in the Mercedes-Benz Museum parking lot in Stuttgart, Germany.
According to Bosch, the company aims to work with more partners in the industry chain to explore the application of automated valet parking technology in China for a truly safe, convenient, and intelligent transportation experience.
