SAIC Motor's car assembly plant in Ningde, Fujian province is currently able to output 240,000 new vehicles per year and its annual capacity can peak at 300,000 units, the automaker said when celebrated the 2nd anniversary for the factory's production commencement

Production at the Ningde-based plant formally started on Sept. 28, 2019. It is the fourth manufacturing base of SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Co.,Ltd. (SAIC Motor PV), the self-owned PV subsidiary of SAIC Motor, following the facilities in Shanghai, Nanjing, and Zhengzhou.

The Ningde base mainly produces the ROEWE and MG passenger cars. The first model manufactured there was the MG eHS. Up until now, the plant has output a slew of car models, including the MG HS, the MG eHS, the MG Pilot, the all-new MG5, and the Roewe Clever. The MG's brand new SUV, the MG ONE, is about to come off the production line at this factory.

Vehicles produced at the Ningde factory have been exported to many overseas markets of Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South America, and the Middle East.

Involving a total investment of 5 billion yuan ($773.04 million), the Ningde smart plant is honored the biggest car manufacturing factory in Asian by covering an area of 1.4 million square meters, 140,000 of which are for assembly workshops.

According to SAIC Motor PV, the Ningde factory boasts smart manufacturing capabilities by using Internet, big data, AI, cloud-based platform, and other information technologies. It utilizes Huawei's new-generation IP network solution to connect such elements as AGVs (automated guided vehicles), assembly facilities, and production equipment.
