- DNT has successfully developed and mass-produced specialized repair tools for ZF 12TX and 16S gearboxes, marking a breakthrough in localized, high-precision tooling. Designed for heavy-duty truck service, the tools meet OEM standards, enhance repair efficiency, and reduce costs—now deployed nationwide and ready for export.
DNT Tools, a heavy-duty vehicle repair tool company, officially announced that its self-developed ZF 12-speed (ZF 12TX) and 16-speed (ZF 16S) gearbox special repair tool kits have been successfully developed and tested, and will be put into mass production this month. This marks a key step for DNT in the development of high-precision special tooling in China.
ZF 12TX and ZF 16S series are ZF's main manual and automatic transmission models widely used in heavy trucks. Due to their complex structure and high precision requirements, they have always relied on imported tooling for maintenance, which is costly and has a long delivery cycle, causing considerable pressure on terminal service providers.
Facing this market pain point, DNT launched the "ZF maintenance tool localization" special project, organized an experienced structural design and application engineering team to carry out technical research, and finally successfully developed a full range of maintenance tools suitable for ZF 12-speed and 16-speed gearboxes, covering:
- Main shaft/counter shaft special disassembly and assembly tools
- Synchronizer press tool
- Gearbox housing centering and positioning tool
- Input shaft/gear set special puller
- Differential installation auxiliary tool, etc.

Three major technical highlights:
1. Accurate benchmarking of original factory standards: All key stress-bearing parts are developed based on ZF official technical parameters, combined with high-precision CNC processing technology to ensure that the error of each set of tools is controlled within ±0.03mm;
2. Special machine dedicated + structural modularization: Different models of gearboxes adopt a unified module combination structure to improve maintenance efficiency and reduce the procurement cost of maintenance companies;
3. Strong durability and domestically produced materials: All tools use carbon steel + carbon phosphorus blackening process to achieve barrier-free import substitution.
At present, this set of tools has been successfully tested and highly praised in dozens of domestic ZF gearbox authorized repair stations and large heavy-duty truck service companies. The first batch of mass-produced products has been fully launched on the market and is planned to be exported to Central Asia, Eastern Europe and other regions with high penetration of ZF heavy-duty trucks in March 2025.
